Advisory Board

Families are important to the Youth and Family Training Institute (YFTI). The YFTI was developed with the input of stakeholders including youth and families who are involved with the mental health, juvenile justice, education, drug and alcohol, and Children, Youth and Family system.

Through a competitive process, youth, family members and professionals in Pennsylvania who work in the child-serving system can apply to be a member of the Youth and Family Training Institute Advisory Board (hereon known as Advisory Board). This Advisory Board helps to guide the direction and decisions of the YFTI.

The Youth and Family Training Institute Advisory Board reflects the diversity of Pennsylvania. The Advisory Board is comprised of Pennsylvanians from all walks of life who have experienced behavioral health disorders, either personally or in their family. To assure that this balance is maintained, the YFTI continually seeks new members of different ages, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic backgrounds, and geographic location.

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month and alternate between conference calls and in-person meetings in Mechanicsburg, PA., near Harrisburg for all individuals selected as members of the Advisory Board. Reimbursement for childcare will be provided if needed, and food and traveling expenses, such as tolls and mileage will be reimbursed. If an overnight stay is necessary, hotel accommodations will be provided.
