Pennsylvania has made the commitment to transform the children’s behavioral health system to be family driven and youth guided. Pennsylvania county MH/MR programs who are interested in the initiative of transforming children’s behavioral health services by creating Youth and Family Teams using High Fidelity Wraparound can apply to the Youth and Family Training Institute (YFTI). This initiative is supported by the Children’s Bureau in the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, in conjunction with the Youth and Family Training Institute (YFTI) operated by the University of Pittsburgh, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. The Children’s Bureau will work with Pennsylvania counties by providing guidance and support on matters related to state and federal regulation, especially in regard to funding. The Youth and Family Training Institute will provide county readiness assistance and training, staff training and certification in High Fidelity Wraparound, coaching, and monitoring. Counties that apply will identify local resources directed to changing the practice model for children’s behavioral health services. By working together, the children’s behavioral health system will realize the promise of positive outcomes for youth and families, as shown in the National Wraparound Initiative.
